  1. Mary Stewart's Merlin trilogy (The Crystal Cave, The Hollow Hills, The Last Enchantment)
The Wicked Day - Mary Stewart
Queen of Camelot - Nancy MacKenzie

The Steinbeck was what got me interested in King Arthur as a kid. I definitely recommend it.

I enjoyed, and would recommend, the Stephen Lawhead books.

I never was able to get into the Rosaline Miles books.

There's quite a few on this list that I haven't read and will need to check out. Thanks for posting!

  2. Read The Once and Future King in high school and remember liking it.
Loved the Bernard Cornwell books! These were the 1st BC books I read which led me to his awesome Saxon Chronicles :)

For additions to the list-I recently ran across a trilogy of Arthur books by M K Hume that look pretty good and added those to my WL.

Also there is Gwenhwyfar by Mercedes Lackey and the Camulod Chronicles by Jack Whyte.

  7. Great list! I love King Arthur but I haven't read all of those. :) Some of my favorites are Hawk of May (and sequels, they are absolutely beautiful) by Gillian Bradshaw, the Squire's Tales series by Gerald Morris (technically for kids, but they are a lot of fun), Sarah Zettel's Camelot books and a series of Arthurian mysteries that I just discovered by Tony Hays.

  8. In agreement, excellent list! The Mary Stewart Merlin books are good too and ones you may want to add yto your list. I loved several series on the list; the Cornwell, Miles, and Hollick books are all great and favorites of mine. The Stephen Lawhead books are on my list but I haven't read them yet. I'm working my way through the Persia Woolley books now and enjoying them.

  9. Anna Elliott has a triology on the Trystan & Isolde myth (Twilight of Avalon, Dark Moon of Avalon, and Sunrise of Avalon). She's also written a short story on Arthur and Morgan, Dawn of Avalon, which is available from Amazon as a free download. She is passionate about Arthurian legend and history, and this is evident in her novels.
