Happy Sunday Morning everyone! I passed over going to breakfast this morning (a typical Sunday ritual) because I simply feel like staying in bed for awhile this morning. It is nice to do that once in awhile. Plus, the rest of today is going to involve putting away all of the Christmas boxes and rearranging furniture, so I am going to enjoy my morning.
This week was a pretty slow reading week for me. I finished one audio book, Going Rogue by Sarah Palin, and am still working on The Dark Lantern. I am currently on page 192, so I have made some progress, but it still isn’t moving fast enough for me. I am enjoying it a little, but so far I am not feeling very connected to any of the characters. I hope to have this book done this week so I can move onto my next read for The Historical Fiction Bloggers Round Table, The Secret of the Glass by Donna Russo Morin.
Speaking of HFBRT – I have had a blast this week hosting our first event, Notorious Royal Marriages by Leslie Carroll. Across the blogs there have been amazing creative posts about some of our favorite couples. Arleigh compiled a great list of historical fiction about the couples featured in the book, which I am sure I will come back to often. Leslie Carroll has appeared in many guest posts and very interesting interviews. The events that were posted here at The Maiden’s Court are:
• Book Review of Notorious Royal Marriages
• My post about the marriage of Catherine the Great and Peter III of Russia
• Guest post by Leslie Carroll on the Notorious Royal Divorce of Eleanor of Aquitaine
• I also have a giveaway for one copy of the book, see the sidebar to enter
There are still a few events going on today, so be sure to check them out:
• A guest post by Leslie at Enchanted by Josephine
• The Couples of Notorious Royal Marriages in fiction at Historical-Fiction.com
• Book Review at Historically Obsessed
This week at The Maiden’s Court is going to be a mini movie week. I have reviews of Sherlock Holmes and The Young Victoria to post this week, as well as the mini reviews for my completed Period Drama Challenge. I have to say, if you haven’t yet seen The Young Victoria, you should because it was amazing. And to quote my boyfriend who I dragged with me to see it, “It wasn’t as bad as I expected” – which is saying a lot coming from someone who was expecting it to be torture (haha!)
I hope everyone is having a great weekend and staying warm. See you around the blogosphere!
