Cover Crush: An Inconvenient Beauty

Cover Crush

We can all say that you should never judge a book by its cover, but I guarantee that we all have done so at least once! Cover Crush is designed to feature some of those covers that have caught the eye as a standout on the bookshelf.

an inconvenient beauty

For the most part I like this cover – all except the bottom where the author’s name is.  I like that they pulled from the fabric of the woman’s dress so there is continuity, but it seems like a harsh delineation between the parts of the cover that I don’t really like.  It’s not a seamless graduation.  But the parts I do like: The image outside the window is blurred and brings the attention inward on the woman and the color of the dress illuminates her.  There is also a glow near her head that even more draws the attention toward her face and highlights the beauty the cover hints at.

What are your thoughts on this cover?

I wonder what my friends are crushing on this week? Let’s check it out: A Literary Vacation; A Bookaholic Swede; Of Quills and Vellum; Layered Pages; 2 Kids and Tired Books.

  1. Yeah, not a fan either of that swatch of color for the author's name. Weird how they chose to do that!
