I don’t believe in creating New Year’s resolutions, but after looking over my reading year for 2013 and knowing what my 2014 has in store, I do want to set out a few goals for the year – both in terms of my reading and my blogging.
I didn’t read near as much in 2013 as in 2012 or the years previous – and that is probably likely to continue in 2014. I have a wedding coming up in June, so the six months leading up to it will be very busy with planning and other activities. I will also continue to have to partake in mandatory overtime at my day job which leaves me pretty exhausted when I finally get home. So the reviews might be a little slower in coming this year.
I do hope to read more of my President and First Lady themed non-fiction. I didn’t read as many as I had hoped this year. I also would like to get back to some of the remaining Janet Evanovich and James Patterson reads (which I don’t review, but really enjoy reading!)
I became pretty good at becoming selective at choosing my review books this year, but still ended up with SO many. I need to try to be even more selective in this upcoming busy year.
In terms of blogging, I would like to get back to writing some of my own unique posts. I did very few of my signature posts (Caught on Tape, Two Sides, Virtual Tours). These are posts that I love doing and just lacked the time to spend on them. I also hope to get back into the Weekend Cooking route. I actually did a few recipes toward the end of the year but they got hung up on my camera, so I haven’t written on them yet. I also need to get back on the wagon of taking notes on my reading after finishing a book – I have been having a harder time writing reviews because I haven’t been doing that.
I am going to avoid most of the reading challenges this year – maybe only do one or two if I feel committed to them. I didn’t do so well at updating them this year and it became more of a hassle than exciting. When I have limited time to blog and comment on other blogs, I have to eliminate something – I am choosing challenges.
I’m going to attempt to keep Goodreads, Shelfari, and Pinterest up to date – now that I have them all pretty much up to date.
That about wraps it up for me – what are your goals for the new year?
