Mailbox Monday #108

Another decent mailbox for me this week:

I received 2 audio books as part of the Audio Book Jukebox Solid Gold Reviewer program.  I received Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel and A Night to Remember by Walter Lord (about the Titanic).  I think I'm starting the Mantel book tomorrow.

Then I received 3 of the 4 textbooks I need for my next class - which is starting July 2nd.  It is going to be on Seminar in World History.  Stay tuned in a few weeks for a summary of how my Historiography class went.  So anyway, I received:

  • French Historical Revolution: the Annales School, 1929-89 by Peter Burke from Half.com - not looking forward to this one at all!
  • Navigating World History: Historians Create a Global Past by Patrick Manning from Half.com
  • A Short History of the World by J. M. Roberts from Half.com
I have an interesting sounding one that should be coming this week that I can't wait to read.

So what arrived in your mailbox this week?

Mailbox Monday is on a monthly blog tour and for the month of May it is being hosted by Martha’s Bookshelf

  1. Hope your history class is awesome. I wish I had taken a few history courses instead of wimping out and taking geography because I knew it would be easier :)

    1. This past class was historiography which was sort of boring - the history of history writing. My next class is Seminar in World History which should at least be somewhat interesting.

  2. Great books...even the textbooks! I covet Bring Up the Bodies, of course. I'm glad you are doing so well in school. I applied there too, but I think I told you about my financial aid problems so I don't know what I'm going to do now. I'm actually seriously considering putting my considerable credits toward a teaching degree. I recently found out that Metro schools here in Nashville have a starting teacher salary of $40,000! Then again, I may just focus all of my efforts in writing my novel. Who knows? I'm ever a work in progress. ;O)

    Enjoy your books!

    1. I remember you mentioning the financial aid issues - I'm sorry for that. That is not a bad starting salary for a teacher! And a novel is always good too!
