This would be a wonderful recipe to cook out on the grill during the summer months, but it cooked up just as well on the grilling pan in our kitchen.

I bet it was tender and juicy!
ReplyDeleteI wonder why Sarah Polk prohibited the drinking of hard liquor at White House dinners? She just didn't approve or maybe too many guests had the habit of overindulging? Interesting tidbit.
I know that Sarah Polk was very religious and that the previous administration had been known to have very rousing parties - maybe those might be reasons for her limiting hard liquor. Also, I know up until a certain point that water wasn't considered safe to drink, so wine was the drink of choice - however I'm not sure if that came into play here or not.
DeleteThat does sound good. I too am curious about the wine / spirits divide. Pretty china.
ReplyDeleteI too love the china. You can't see it in this tiny picture, but on all of the china plates they had there is a flag emblem with the words, E Plurbus Unum across it. Very patriotic as well as pretty.
DeleteI'm always looking for a new chicken recipe, and this sounds perfect.
ReplyDeleteWe eat a lot of chicken, so I too am always looking for something new to change it up!
DeleteVery nice post and recipe! My recipes are from an Anne of Green Gables cookbook
ReplyDeleteOh very cool! I am certainly going to drop by and check that out!
DeleteHi Heather! I love that you got this from something you are reading and also shared the china pattern. I'm following your link after I comment. ;). The chicken looks great - like something the kids would go for also, which is a huge plus!
ReplyDeleteOoops. Haha. You had underlined a book title and I thought it was a link. I will google it. I was beating on my poor iPhone screen with my finger.
DeleteHaha! Sorry! I do think that it is something kids would enjoy too - nothing too sweet/sour/different!
DeleteI love chicken - this recipe looks easy and delicious! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very nice chicken dish. Would you be happy to link it in to my Chicken Edition of Food on Friday? This is the link . I found this through Beth Fish Read's great Weekend Cooking series.
